SCORE® is a Resource Partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)
SCORE (Counselors to America's Small Business) is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. It is a group of both working and retired executives and business owners who donate their time and expertise as business counselors. SCORE was formed in 1964 and there are now about 12,400 volunteers in some 364 chapters throughout the country. SCORE operates under the sponsorship of the U.S. Small Business Administration and in cooperation with a variety of local institutions. This year SCORE, "Counselors to America's Small Business", celebrates 45 years of service to the small business community.
SCORE Chapter #390 in Southern Maryland has about 40 talented members with entrepreneurial experience; many counsel, are resources/presenters for our workshops, and others assist the chapter with their administrative talents. We offer free, confidential counseling and conduct general and specialized workshops for which there are nominal charges. We provide such services to clients in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's counties. Learn more below:

Our satisfaction comes from helping you achieve your business goals. Even if you’re just thinking about starting a business, we can help you make that decision.
Our counselors come from all types of businesses. Meet Our Counselors and find out about their experience. They are leaders. They are doers. And at this point in their lives they want to apply what they have learned to help you be more successful with your small business. All SCORE counselors are volunteers who receive specialized training to help you.

Teaching is central to the SCORE mission of helping small business owners. Our SCORE chapter offers a series of workshops on various aspects of business. WE HAVE SEVERAL EXCITING NEW WORKSHOPS! Go to our Workshop Descriptions page to find out more details. The fees for our workshops are very reasonable (between $39 - $79 per workshop depending on the workshop and payment method). They're a real bargain! The workshop Schedule and Registration page provides a calendar of upcoming workshops and you can enroll and pay by credit card securely from this web site.
A special benefit offered to all our workshop attendees is the opportunity to ask questions of SCORE counselors during the workshop sessions, thus getting a head start on our free counseling services. We have SCORE counselors present during workshops just for this purpose.
Counseling may be continued at follow on sessions subsequent to workshops, all at no charge. We encourage ongoing relationships with those seeking SCORE business counseling so that you can continue to benefit from our counselor's business expertise.
The Southern Maryland Chapter is located in Annapolis and was recently recognized for two years in a row by the National SCORE Organization as runner up to the best SCORE Chapter in the nation. Our SCORE Chapter was nominated by the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce for a Non-Profit of the Year Award during 2007 in Anne Arundel County. The Chapter has used a number of innovative approaches to better serve small businesses or those wishing to start such businesses.
